Our Mission:

By August of 2027 we will achieve total financial freedom via savings and responsible investments. We will accomplish this while living in an ecologically sound and socially conscious manner. We will have bought land, built a home, and have children. If we ever own a vehicle, it will be the most environmentally friendly model available on the market. Most importantly, we will NEVER employ the credit industry to accomplish our goals.

On The Subject Of Earnings...

Darling does not have his green card right now. His original expired in February, and although he has jumped through all the necessary hoops, his application for renewal is "pending." Although he finished the job he had when his card expired, job hunting without a card is generally frowned upon. So that is why he is not contributing financially. My experience with Homeland Security leads me to suspect it will "be in the mail" for six months, and he should receive it in January of 2009.

I have no problem with this whatsoever. The man cooks most meals and cleans, pampers, and cares for me. He supports me in every conceivable way. Despite totally depending on me financially, he never discourages me from taking time off or risks, exploring tentative opportunities or considering lower paid, less stressful jobs. He never complains when I put large sums of money in savings and declare it "$10 grocery bill week" or whines about not having enough money to have fun with. He has made many, many sacrifices to be my involuntary stay-at-home husband, and I love him so much for that.

Nobody would think it at all unusual if it were you not working and Darling doing all the earning. He is working, looking after a house and another person can be really hard work!

I had wondered if he was working, as all your posts referred to your income and no mention of his. :-) I hope he gets his green card soon!

Maybe he will be eligible for citizenship soon - I just took it after many years - it cost about $600 and takes about a year to get - you dont have to give up your U.K. citizenship either - I have passports for both countries It is great not to have to mess with green cards.
